Ukraine to participate in the European Youth Olympic Festival 2022 in Vuokatti

The Ukrainian youth team will travel to Finland to participate in the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in Vuokatti. The EYOF takes place from Sunday 20th to Friday 25th March 2022. The participation of the Ukrainian team was confirmed Tuesday evening.

The Finnish Olympic Committee and the Vuokatti EYOF 2022 Organising Committee are pleased that the opportunity to take part was made possible for the Ukrainian youth team. The size of the team is 42 persons, consisting of 28 athletes and 14 team officials such as coaches, technical officials and Olympic mission.

– The participation is a result of international and national collaboration. The European Olympic Committees in solidarity with a number of European national olympic committees, the Finnish Olympic Committee and the Vuokatti Organizing Committee have been involved in the work. In addition, special thanks go to several companies for their financial and other support, says Mikko Salonen, CEO of the Finnish Olympic Committee.

– We are grateful for such a tremendous support of our European olympic family and colleagues and common people who have contributed to make it possible for Ukrainian youth to be a part of Olympic sport movement in these important days for our nation and our country. This gives our youth a chance to learn and share, communicate with their peers, continuing to develop in sport that is a tool for peace and celebration of human values, says Anna Sorokina, Chef De Mission of the Ukrainian youth team.
