The Olympic Fund, a shared fund for Finnish sport, has received a significant boost. Broman Group has donated €50,000 to the fund, bringing the company’s total donations to the Olympic Fund to €500,000. Broman Group is now the fund’s largest individual donor.
Broman Group has supported the Olympic Fund since its inception. The company sees the fund as a long-term investment in the future of Finnish sport, providing lasting support for generations to come.
– We have been supporting the well-being of Finns through various donations since the early 1970s. Through the Olympic Fund, we want to help make it possible for children and young people to participate in sports and pursue their dreams on an equal footing. The fund’s operating model is important to us: the donated capital remains untouched, and sports are supported with the returns on that capital. This way, the impact extends far into the future, says Harri Broman.
Interest in the Olympic Fund continues to grow
The goal of the Olympic Fund is to build a stable and growing financial foundation for Finnish sport. Interest in the fund has grown in recent months among both private donors and the sports community.
– We are currently engaged in several very promising discussions with new donors. I believe there are two significant factors behind this growing interest. The Olympic Fund began distributing grants when the first awards were presented to young athletes and sports clubs at the Sports Gala, says Lauri Inna, chairman of the Finnish Sports Foundation.
– In addition, donations of more than €10,000 can now be allocated to a sport of the donor’s choice. These reforms have strengthened confidence in the fund and made it an even more attractive tool for supporting Finnish sport in the long term, Inna continues.
The Olympic Fund has been established as a permanent endowment fund, the returns from which are used to support the development of Finnish sport. The goal is to develop the fund into a form of support for Finnish exercise and sport that will have an impact for decades to come.
– We now have a unique opportunity to build a lasting foundation for Finnish sport, the effects of which will still be felt decades from now. The Olympic Fund isn’t just a form of support for today; it’s an investment in opportunities for future generations, Lauri Inna sums up.
The Olympic Fund’s growth will also receive a significant boost from other sources in the near future. The fund’s capital is set to reach a new level this year, which will strengthen its ability to support Finnish sports over the long term.
