Luhta Olympic Team Finland Collection is a showcase of athletic fashion for varying conditions

The clothing of Olympic Team Finland is part of the identity of Finnish elite sports. Since 2017, the team has been dressed by Luhta Sportswear Company, whose iconic Luhta brand was chosen for the Olympics in Milan, a city known for fashion. The Olympic Team Finland will wear Luhta outfits during travel, at the opening ceremony, at the medal ceremonies, at representative events, and during their free time.

Luhta Sportswear Company’s extensive collaboration with the Finnish Olympic Committee began in 2017, and Olympic Team Finland has represented Finland while wearing the Luhta clothing in Pyeongchang in 2018, Tokyo in 2020, Beijing in 2022, and Paris in 2024.

For the Milan Olympics in early spring 2026, Olympic Team Finland will wear the company’s Luhta brand, which dresses Finnish athletes with pride in the brand’s Finnishness and Finnish sporting history, bringing the best possible innovative collection and its magnificent products from a small country to the world stage of sport.  Luhta is well known for its Finnish roots and expertise gained through 118 years of experience.

The design of the collection planned for Olympic Team Finland in Milan was inspired by Finnish Lapland, its unique nature, tranquility, and incredibly beautiful blue moments. When the sun sets in the North, the last rays of the day paint the sky and the surrounding nature in magnificent shades of blue, transforming the landscape into something magical.  The beauty of this moment is unparalleled. This is a moment when Finland is allowed to pause and relax for a moment. We want to capture this unique moment in Finland and pack it along with the collection for the Finnish team.

– The diversity and uniqueness of Finnish nature are reflected in the collection through athleticism and clean lines, stunning shapes, silhouettes, prints, patterns, and colors. When traveling to the fashion capital of the world, fashion and the functionality required of sportswear blend seamlessly together in the collection, notes Jeri Luhtanen, Division Director at Luhta Sportswear Company.

Petteri Kilpinen, President of the Finnish Olympic Committee, considers the Finnish team’s clothing to be an important part of the brand image of Finland and Finnish sports.

– The Olympics are the most interesting sporting event in the world. They offer a global showcase for Finnish expertise and design. The world’s leading clothing and fashion brands are represented through collections from different countries, so it’s great that we have a Finnish family business as our partner that is positioned alongside them.

In addition to a striking design, the collection has been created with principles of responsibility in mind, particularly circular economy, versatility, and functionality. The Milan-Cortina Olympics will be held across an exceptionally large area in northern Italy, with competition, performance, and accommodation venues in a total of eight different locations, each with different conditions. The choice of materials and the needs of athletes in different locations have been tailored to each participant in the Games. The collection uses recycled and certified materials, ensuring chemical safety and animal rights.

– Athletes, coaching staff, and maintenance personnel have been involved in the development of this collection from the design stage onwards.  Details have been refined in consultation with individual athletes. We always organize athlete- and sport-specific fittings for the collection, and special needs have been taken into account, says Janne Hänninen, High Performance Director of the Finnish Olympic Committee.

–  The Olympics are every athlete’s dream. It is an honor to be part of the team, and I am proud to wear the Finnish team’s outfit, which combines style and functionality. When clothes feel and look good, it gives you confidence and boosts your self-esteem, says Jasmi Joensuu, cross-country skier selected to the team.

–  We are responsible for the products in our collection throughout their entire life cycle, and we take them back after the competitions if the athletes wish to hand them over. We ensure that the products are properly recycled, thereby reducing our environmental impact. Items that are unsuitable for further use are sent to our recycling partner for processing, Jeri Luhtanen continues.

Luhta is opening a new specialty store on Pohjoisesplanadi on October 29. The store will focus on the brand’s export collection, which will now also be available to Finnish consumers. The official opening ceremony outfit of the Finnish team will also be on display, and a selection of products from the Luhta Olympic Team Finland collection will be on sale. A wider selection of clothing, shoes, and accessories can be found in Luhta’s online store and in selected brick-and-mortar stores of the clothing group.
