The Finnish Olympic Committee and the Finnish Paralympic Committee hosted the annual joint Nordic Felles meeting in Helsinki on 11–12 September 2025. The meeting brought together Olympic committees, Paralympic committees and sports organisations from Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Iceland. In addition, representatives from the autonomous regions of Åland, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands attended the meeting. For the second time in Felles’ history, representatives from the athletes’ committees were also present.
– Nordic cooperation is Finland’s most important channel for international influence. Together, we have become a strong team. As a team, we have taken on or been given the role of standard-bearer on many issues internationally, such as the new direction of children’s sport, human rights, and sustainability issues, where we have been among the first to build dialogue with the International Olympic Committee. Our shared goal is to ensure that Nordic values, as well as issues related to democracy and sustainability, are visible and heard on the international stage, says Petteri Kilpinen, President of the Finnish Olympic Committee.

At the Felles meeting, participants reviewed international advocacy efforts in sports policy and received updates on key issues affecting the Nordic countries, such as human rights and sustainability. In addition, following a proposal from Finland, it was decided to strengthen joint Nordic efforts in high-performance sport and related advocacy work by intensifying the exchange of information and meetings among high-performance sport leaders.
