The Finnish Olympic Committee published the first-ever SporttiData report in April, bringing together data on Finnish sport in a comprehensive way. The report has been well received and, in addition to the sports community, it has been used in several media publications.
An updated version of the report has now been released. With this update, the report also includes data from the Finnish Basketball Federation, broadening its data base and enabling more diverse sport-specific comparisons. Through SporttiData, it will now be possible to monitor how, for example, the success and excitement around the Finnish men’s national basketball team (Susijengi) in the European Championships is reflected in the number of basketball license holders and retention, and to compare these trends with other major team sports such as volleyball.
With the update, SporttiData provides an even more accurate overall picture of regional differences in license holder numbers across Finland, as well as the national total volume of license holders.
A significant new addition is that SporttiData is now also available in English, making it easier to use and apply in international contexts.
The SporttiData report brings together key statistics on license holders, the economy of sports clubs, and the societal impact of sport. The report is updated regularly and makes use of several different data sources. It is freely available for use by federations, clubs, and other stakeholders.
